What is a Mill?
In the context of woodworking, a mill is a facility where logs are processed into lumber. The logs are debarked, cut into boards of various sizes and shapes, and then dried or treated before being shipped to various customers, such as furniture makers or construction companies. Mills can be small, family-owned operations or large, industrial complexes, and can produce a wide range of wood products, from standard dimensional lumber to specialized wood products for specific applications. Some mills also have their own sawmills or planing mills, allowing them to further process the wood into finished products.
